Why should one online poker ? Aside from the enjoyment it generates, what are the other reasons?

Playing Rakeback With Full Tilt at online casino is not just a fun game or a game of luck, it is also a game of skill. Studying the game, deliberately improving your skills and working hard are the requirements to become successful in the game. People can now also play online poker with sites such as Sky Poker.

It is not like Easy Slots where you can easily polish some aspects of your game. Perhaps the only aspect that one can really control is the bluffing part of William hill poker . Once you learn the bluffing technique and become successful in practising it, you must practice patience in bluffing and do not bluff in every hand. If you bluff consistently, your opponent might not believe in your bluff any more.

It is really difficult for a poker player to advance beyond the most basic level. This is because generally, there are no rules in poker that would guarantee success. It maybe a skill level to a certain extent. But luck plays a huge part in the game of Video Poquer too.

Just because one masters the different techniques of playing the game, it does not necessarily follow that one should win all the time. Sometimes emotions and state of mind such as anger, male pride and stubbornness come into play. Also, most players do not accept the fact that poker is difficult and can be very demanding.

Sometimes players are also prone to choosing the easy way out in poker such as deciding to change the deck rather than adapting the play according the opponents strengths and weaknesses. After all, the fate may not necessarily be in the cards but in your ability to determine your opponents moves and tendencies.

Blaming the dealers, complaining or throwing cards in frustration sometimes can be observed among players. This is because they would rather indulge in their emotions rather than practice patience and study their opponents. The latter are the only means to become better in every poker game. Giving in to emotions might be easier but they do not make you win.

Some would rather to be told what to do than learn it on their own. Wisdom comes from experience in poker. The challenge with a poker game is each game is unique. Each game will require that you make different decisions and process data differently.

Following the rules set out by others is not playing the game of poler rather it is merely pretending to play the game. Poker is all about wit, intellect and outsmarting others. If you want to win, then make your own decisions and do not stick to others rules.

The hearing will be the second of its kind in less than three months. On Nov. 17, a Senate hearing titled, “The Future of Internet Gaming: What’s at Stake for Tribes?” focused on testimony from representatives of various tribes and tribal groups. Thor Hansen Diagnosed with Cancer On Tuesday, the poker world was devastated to learn that Norwegian poker legend Thor Hansen has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Hansen, 64, was told by doctors at a Los Angeles hospital that the cancer is untreatable and he likely has less than two years to live. Poker player Andreas Hivold broke the news on Twitter Tuesday evening: Hansen, nicknamed “The Godfather” in Norway, is one of the most respected poker players in the world. He has amassed more than $3 million in live tournament earnings to go along with two World Series of Poker bracelets, one coming from a seven-card stud event in 1998, and the other in deuce-to-seven lowball in 2002. He was named the Norwegian Poker Player of the Year in 2005. The news hit the poker community hard on Tuesday. Fellow Norwegian poker player Annette Obrestad said the following in a thread at TwoPlusTwo: “I seriously cried when I read [about] this. I don’t know anyone like him. He truly is one of a kind. All the best Thor, ur an inspiration for us all.” Check out the full thread at TwoPlusTwo.

Another Freeroll Ahead
Posted by Bradley, January 4, 2012 Titan Pokers players love freerolls, there is no doubt about it. Two huge freeroll tournaments were staged during the last week, and both of them attracted 3,500 entries, the maximum number of players. Croatian player lujopunks took down the $1,500 Facebook Freeroll on December 29th and Canadian TTR144023732 won the 2012 $10,000 Freeroll on January 2nd. Another huge guaranteed prize freeroll tournament has been scheduled for the beginning of February, and all Titan Poker players are eligible to qualify. Players can secure their seat in the $5K Titans Skrill Depositors Freeroll on February 2nd by making a deposit with Moneybookers/Skrill during the month of January. A total of $5,000 in guaranteed prizes will be distributed to the winning players of this freeroll tournament. Moneybookers/Skrill, one of Europes largest online payments providers with over 20 million account owners globally, is a simple tool allowing players to safely make online payments. Originally known solely as Moneybookers, this alternative payment method re-branded as Skrill in the beginning of 2011, and Skrill is being marketed as the future of Moneybookers. Moneybookers/Skrill is one of the many payment options available to Titan Pokers players.

Strategy with Kristy: Jared Tendler on the Mental Game of Poker Part 2
December 22 2011, Kristy Arnett Related Articles Strategy with Kristy: Jared Tendler on the Mental Game of Poker Pt 1 Strategy with Kristy: Andrew Seidman Discusses His Book, Easy Game Strategy with Kristy: Andrew Robl Discusses Televised Cash Game Hands Share It Tags Poker Players, Poker Strategy, PokerNews Podcast, Psychology of Poker Print Jared Tendler is the author of The Mental Game of Poker and has coached more than 200 players from around the world. Equipped with a masters degree in psychology and years of experience as a performance coach, Tendler has become one of poker’s most respected teachers of the mental side of poker, which includes tilt, emotional control, confidence, motivation, and fear. Last week on Strategy with Kristy, brought to you by South Point, Tendler came on the show and discussed how to approach improving your mental game, the Adult Learning Model, and more. This week, host Kristy Arnett put into practice a few tips she learned from Tendler and discusses her experience. Here is a snippet from the interview: Personally, I feel like my confidence changes so much. Sometimes I feel unstoppable and other times I feel like I can’t do anything right. Can you talk a little bit about confidence and the importance of finding middle ground with it? Confidence is huge. The key thing to keep in mind with confidence is that we’re looking for it to be stable, meaning that it doesn’t swing too high or too low. Those times when you feel unstoppable are almost not as real as the times when you feel like nothing can go right. Neither one is accurate. When you feel unstoppable, some players feel like they can beat anybody like the Iveys or the Durrrrs of the world, but that’s not true. It’s an illusion, but it feels that way. In that moment, being carried away by that emotion can be very destructive on the high side. And the same thing on the other side. When a skilled player like yourself, who’s a proven winning player, feels like they can’t doing anything right, that’s as much of an illusion as feeling like you can beat anyone and you’re unstoppable. What we’re trying to do is move you more toward the middle, and the middle is not being numb. This is key because like I said last week, emotion is not the problem. Being neutral and being robotic is not what we’re looking for. We’re looking for your confidence to be much more focused around the things that you control because in the short run in poker, you can very easily have your results fueled by variance in one way or the other. If your emotions and confidence goes along with it, it will be a roller coaster of emotion along with the roller coaster of your results. That means your confidence is perfectly tied to results. What we’re trying to do is create it much more around your skill. Focus your evaluation of your game, not around how much money you won or lost in a single day, but instead on your skill. You have to be able to recognize how well you played or how poorly you played, specifically what mistakes were made, specifically what difficult spots you got yourself into that you made good decisions for. Being able to see the subtle nuances in your game and the subtle nuances in your opponent’s game, allow you to kind of tease out the results in a slightly different way than just money. That’s important to maintain that stability because if you’re able to know definitively, on a day when you lost five or six buy-ins, that you played as well as you could and that none of your C-game or B-game mistakes showed up, then you can walk away feeling pretty good. I’m not saying you feel good losing money, but you can walk away knowing that on a very difficult day, you were able to withstand those beats, withstand all those difficult hands and spots, and played as well as you could. That’s something that creates a lot more stability for confidence in the long run.

Strategy with Kristy: Mike Watson Discusses Playing Big Stacks
December 09 2011, Kristy Arnett Related Articles Strategy with Kristy: Randal Flowers Discusses Bluffing Preflop Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Amanda Musumeci Discusses WSOP Main Event Strategy with Kristy Podcast: Ben Wilinofsky Discusses Short-Stack Strategy Related Players Share It Tags Tournament Strategy, South Point, PokerNews Podcast, Mike Watson, Poker Player Interviews Print Mike Watson, also known as “SirWatts,” has accumulated more than $4 million in tournament winnings and is also one of the most respected high-stakes no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha players online. For this edition of Strategy with Kristy, brought to you by South Point, Watson discusses the strategy behind playing a big stack in a no-limit hold’em tournament. Here is a snippet from the interview: If you’re at a table with a player who’s good and has a big stack, how do you combat them? I mean, it’s a very difficult situation obviously. That’s the nightmare scenario in a tournament. Ideally you have position on them, but if you’re out of position, sometimes you have to tighten up a little bit. You might open-fold some of the speculative hands you’d usually try to pick up some chips with. If they’re going to give you trouble and three-bet you a lot, there’s not much you can do. All you can do is come up with a balanced strategy against them. You’re going to have to four-bet as a bluff sometimes. If they’re really over-aggressive, you might be looking to four-bet light for value hoping to induce them to spew. Sometimes, you can even take flops against them even though you’re out of position and try to outplay them postflop. They might be less comfortable in a postflop game. Players have to learn how to adapt, and for those who came up when no one was really playing that aggressive preflop, learning to four-bet as a bluff can be scary. I think it’s hard for players to integrate these types of plays into their game. Yeah definitely. I used to always be a very tight player, I think most people would say. That’s definitely stuff I used to be uncomfortable putting into my own game. Once you look at the game and break it down to a more theoretical level, you realize you just have to do stuff like that. These are plays that just have to be in your arsenal because it’s the only way to effectively combat the increased aggression of other players. For a look at the just-released entire list of top 300 tournament poker player, visit the official GPI website. The list is compiled using a formula that takes a player’s results over six half-year periods. The Top 10 as of December 5, 2011 Rank Player Total Score Change in Rank from Last Week 1 Bertrand ElkY Grospellier 2,534.45 +1 2 Erik Seidel 2,526.35 -1 3 Jason Mercier 2,415.32 0 4 Eugene Katchalov 2,405.03 0 5 Sam Stein 2,317.85 +1 6 Shawn Buchanan 2,219.40 -1 7 Sam Trickett 2,164.90 0 8 Chris Moorman 2,051.57 +10 9 Fabrice Soulier 2,019.80 0 10 Matt Waxman 2,014.06 0 Having last been No. 1 in August, Bertrand ElkY Grospellier returned to the top of the GPI this week. His total points remained the same, but Erik Seidel’s did not. For as good as Seidel’s run was at the beginning of 2011 (at the moment, his Period 2 results) his second-half of 2010 (at the moment, his Period 3 results) were not all that impressive. Seidel’s score dropped because a 14th-place finish in the $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball event at the 2010 WSOP aged into Period 4, leaving Seidel with only two Period 3 results. As a result, Seidel slipped down to No. 2. New to the top 10 this week is Chris Moorman. With aging 2011 WSOP and 2010 WSOP scores now counting toward Period 2 and Period 4, Moorman gained enough points to make his debut in the top 10. He replaced Sorel Mizzi, now in the No. 14 spot after his ninth-place finish at the 2010 WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic slipped to Period 3. Welcome to the GPI Thirteen players are new to this week’s GPI. Entering with the best rank is Fabian Quoss, thanks to his victory in the 2011 Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour Grand Final Main Event. New Additions Player Total GPI Score GPI Rank Fabian Quoss 1,275.88 157th David Steicke 1,269.58 160th Scott Clements 1,233.63 178th John Monnette 1,098.79 248th Richard Lyndaker 1,081.51 257th Greg Dyer 1,075.38 265th Keven Stammen 1,060.30 278th Kristijonas Andrulis 1,056.80 279th Justin Smith 1,049.86 283rd Brock Parker 1,047.44 287th Kevin Vandersmissen 1,034.97 292nd Seth Fischer 1,028.98 294th Dan Smith 1,020.73 300th Those who fell from the GPI this week: David Chiu, Farzad Bonyadi, Jonathan Karamalikis, Justin Schwartz, Lars Bonding, Luca Pagano, Matt Affleck, Men Nguyen, Nicolas Levi, Nikolay Evdakov, Robert Mizrachi, Sergey Rybachenko, and Vladimir Shchemelev. Ups and Downs The biggest rise of the week belonged to Jean-Philippe Rohr after his 20th-place showing at WPT Marrakech at the end of November. Jonathan Duhamel, who made the final table there and finished seventh, also leaped up the GPI and now sits in the No. 26 spot. Biggest Gains Rank Player Total Score Change in Rank From Last Week 26th Jonathan Duhamel 1,795.71 +36 78th Noah Schwartz 1,509.00 +47 108th James Mitchell 1,395.80 +49 113th Nenad Medic 1,378.82 +46 154th Michael Benvenuti 1,279.04 +69 158th Matt Giannetti 1,272.07 +47 173rd Jean-Philippe Rohr 1,237.31 +87 187th Bernard Lee 1,207.13 +63 195th Tom McCormick 1,193.62 +41 198th Matt Matros 1,192.03 +47 210th Josh Arieh 1,169.21 +36 Several of this week’s biggest falls were due to the 2010 WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic dropping from Period 2 to Period 3. John Racener (fourth), Andrew Lichtenberger (eighth), Amit Makhija (13th), and Andy Frankenberger (16th) each fell significantly. Biggest Drops Rank Player Total Score Change in Rank From Last Week 104th John Racener 1,409.63 -52 114th Thorsten Schafer 1,378.52 -54 130th Andy Frankenberger 1,326.95 -52 179th Amit Makhija 1,228.78 -75 207th Andrew Lichtenberger 1,173.85 -67 212th Will Molson 1,168.76 -75 232nd Yevgeniy Timoshenko 1,132.84 -62 233rd Jonathan Jaffe 1,131.83 -51 290th John Duthie 1,041.37 -66 293rd Tom Dwan 1,034.13 -71 What’s In Store? In addition to more WSOP scores aging, several new tournament results will come into play. The 2011 WPT Prague recently ended with Andrey Pateychuk claiming victory, and the 2011 EPT Prague and the 2011 WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic wrap up this weekend, so there are sure to be big waves across the GPI next week. The exclusive nature of Epic is ill-suited to the democratic nature of poker tournaments driven by large numbers of players that will *never* be on the Epic index. Those players are where the money is and large tournaments are more attractive to advertisers. In any case, time will tell because if High Stakes Poker can be cancelled, Epic cannot be far behind IMHO. Good reporting on the microscopic yet boring changes at the top of the Epic list and the inevitable “Epic List of the Doomed” for those players that Epic’s 300 only list ensures that they at tossed to the rail. I still maintain that having that 300 cutoff is Epic’s greatest weakness because every week Epic it goes out of its way to brand a few dozen players as losers. They should wake up and smell the coffee … Expand the list to 2,000. You would gain 1,700 winners just by doing that and Poker News would have enough data to report on MOVEMENT on the list rather than the bodies Epic toss into the river because they “dared” to be under the arbitrary 300 cap.

Pius Heinz wins 2011 WSOP
The 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event title has finally been claimed. Pius Heinz, a 22-year-old professional poker player from Cologne, Germany, took the title holding Ace-King against Martin Staszko’s Ten-Seven. Neither hand improved and Heinz took home $8.7 million with ace-high. Not only was Heinz the first German to win the Main, he was the first to sit at the final table. Over 6800 players from 85 different nations started the event over 13 days, with a prize pool of $64,540,858. The top 693 cashed and the tournament broke, as usual, over a period of five months between the body of the event and the final table, the “November Nine.” Notably, third-place finisher Ben Lamb was looking to culminate a sick, sick run at the WSOP. He place in five consecutive tournaments, making the final table of four of them, and winning one of them. This unheard-of streak locked him up solidly for the WSOP Player of the Year title. For the first time, the Main Event was broadcast (almost) live. There was a delay of several minutes to limit the ability of players to exploit the private pocket card cameras. Although this could potentially allow players to learn about very recent hands during breaks, creating a unique angle on the most important final table of the year. The continuing high turnout of the WSOP is taken as proof that the allure of poker continues throughout the world despite a federal crackdown against online poker. # Player Earnings Country 1 Pius Heinz $8,715,638 Germany 2 Martin Staszko $5,433,086 Czech Republic 3 Ben Lamb $4,021,138 United States 4 Matt Giannetti $3,012,700 United States 5 Phil Collins $2,269,599 United States 6 Eoghan O’Dea $1,720,831 Ireland 7 Bob Bounahra $1,314,097 Belize 8 Anton Makiieveskyi $1,010,015 Ukraine 9 Sam Holden $782,115 United Kingdom Copyright 2011 Ace Nine, LLC Legal | Contact Us | Site Map
