Why should one online poker ? Aside from the enjoyment it generates, what are the other reasons?

Playing Rakeback With Full Tilt at online casino is not just a fun game or a game of luck, it is also a game of skill. Studying the game, deliberately improving your skills and working hard are the requirements to become successful in the game. People can now also play online poker with sites such as Sky Poker.

It is not like Easy Slots where you can easily polish some aspects of your game. Perhaps the only aspect that one can really control is the bluffing part of William hill poker . Once you learn the bluffing technique and become successful in practising it, you must practice patience in bluffing and do not bluff in every hand. If you bluff consistently, your opponent might not believe in your bluff any more.

It is really difficult for a poker player to advance beyond the most basic level. This is because generally, there are no rules in poker that would guarantee success. It maybe a skill level to a certain extent. But luck plays a huge part in the game of Video Poquer too.

Just because one masters the different techniques of playing the game, it does not necessarily follow that one should win all the time. Sometimes emotions and state of mind such as anger, male pride and stubbornness come into play. Also, most players do not accept the fact that poker is difficult and can be very demanding.

Sometimes players are also prone to choosing the easy way out in poker such as deciding to change the deck rather than adapting the play according the opponents strengths and weaknesses. After all, the fate may not necessarily be in the cards but in your ability to determine your opponents moves and tendencies.

Blaming the dealers, complaining or throwing cards in frustration sometimes can be observed among players. This is because they would rather indulge in their emotions rather than practice patience and study their opponents. The latter are the only means to become better in every poker game. Giving in to emotions might be easier but they do not make you win.

Some would rather to be told what to do than learn it on their own. Wisdom comes from experience in poker. The challenge with a poker game is each game is unique. Each game will require that you make different decisions and process data differently.

Following the rules set out by others is not playing the game of poler rather it is merely pretending to play the game. Poker is all about wit, intellect and outsmarting others. If you want to win, then make your own decisions and do not stick to others rules.

Gladiator. Play the movie gladiator slots to the death! Will you conquer Rome or will you die in front of the Colosseum?

In 2009, Chan became the first player to win two SCOOP events in one day. He took down the medium and high buy-in ($530 and $5,200 respectively) for Event #20, a six-max limit hold’em tournament. Chan spoke with host Kristy Arnett about helpful strategies when playing an extended online tournament series. Here is a snippet from the interview: When you are looking to play a long online tournament series such as SCOOP, do you think it’s important to map out a tentative schedule? Yeah, and I think the key word there is tentative. I don’t think you should be super strict about it. For example, for the World Series of Poker schedule, I basically look at every tournament and put it in a spreadsheet. I put a number, on a scale of one-to-five, of how much I want to play in the tournament. Some events, I just know I’m not going to play. If they aren’t my game or out of my buy-in range, or if I feel like I’d be really bored playing it, I’ll put down a one or a two. And then for a events that I know I definitely want to play, it will be a five. I think it’s important to be flexible about this because maybe you just wake up one morning, and you just feel burned out. Maybe the night before you went deep in a tournament and you were the stone bubble. As tempting as it is to get back on that horse, you should think about whether you’re in the right state of mind to play. Don’t force yourself to play. If you are an absolute professional and can forget about the past, then that’s great. You should play. But, you have to look at yourself and be honest. Ask yourself, “Am I in a good emotional state? Do I feel like playing? Am I prepared to play 16 hours?” You have to ask yourself that because some of these SCOOP events are really long. The worst thing that can happen is that you play for seven or eight hours, you play great, and then you just say, “F*** it. I’m done with it. I’m just going to ship it in. I don’t really care anymore.” I mean, we’ve all done that. Everyone does that in a tournament from time to time, but it’s a really terrible thing to do. You’re better off just not playing in the first place. Podcast Powered By Podbean Tune in every week for new episodes of Strategy with Kristy.

Interview with Vanessa Rousso
by Steve Marzolf As a lawyer, poker pro and self-described “huge dork,” Vanessa Rousso has made a name for herself in tournament poker, earning more than $3.7 million since 2006. Lately, she’s been repping for PokerStars and running poker “boot camps” to raise up the next crop of winning players. We called Vanessa up to talk about her tactics for surviving – and thriving – in the high-pressure world of large-buy-in tournaments. So you’re primarily a tournament player? I would say I’m only a tournament player. I can play a cash game or two. But to be honest with you, I play so many tournaments as it is, that if I play cash games too, it’s just too much poker. I like to have balance in my life, and there just aren’t enough hours in the day to play tournaments, cash games and do all the other things I like to do. Mike Matusow was complaining to us that high-buy-in tourneys have gotten too risky to profit on – what do you think of that statement? My results are skewed toward high buy-ins. I find that in the smaller buy-ins, I don’t do as well. The higher the buy-in, the more pressure and the better I play. I guess my own particular strategies are more suited to high-buy-in events against better players. So, for me, I’d rather play fewer events that are higher buy-in. What do you think it is about your style that matches up so well with those events? I think it’s probably rooted in logical ability. Basically, the higher the buy-in, the deeper the chip stacks, right? So, there’s more opportunity for telling stories with your bets and raises, and there’s more opportunity for tricking and trapping your opponents. In smaller buy-ins, you have to play more ABC optimally and just exploit the mistakes your opponents are making. At the higher levels, you’re not really waiting for your opponents to make errors – you’re more trying to trick and trap them. So it’s a little bit more of a mind game. I guess I don’t have the patience to play the ABC right way that I should in the smaller buy-ins, and then in the bigger buy-ins, tricking other thinking opponents is enough of a challenge that I give it my A-plus effort every time. But you cut your teeth playing sit-n-go’s, right? Well, I started off playing on the internet for free when I was in college, and then when I turned 21, I started playing live – that was when I was in law school in Miami. The first casino I played at was the Seminole Hard Rock down there, which had sit-n-go’s. I’d play on the weekends, and that’s how I built up my first bankroll. Why did sit-n-go’s work for you? They really had a definable, optimal strategy. Once you figure them out, there are only so many dynamics that can come up in one 10-person, set-blind-structure, $150-buy-in game. There’s just not that many ways it can go down. It took me a couple weeks to figure it out, but once I did, it was a formula that I could apply to that situation. And it was pretty consistent at making money. For beginners who want to follow in your footsteps, what sit-n-go advice do you have for them? I’m really big into reading the books and preparing for poker the same way you would for any money-making opportunity. People don’t just jump into investment banking without any schooling about it. I read like 30 books in a couple months before I started. Also, you need to be a lot more patient than people think you need to be. People come in to play, and they try to take advantage of the low blind levels to play hands that are a little more speculative. But really, the chips are worth next to nothing when the table is still 9- or 10-handed. For instance, many people may find that they double up or even triple up early on in a match, but then don’t even make the top three. Because that early on, those chips just aren’t worth anything. Therefore risking chips to accumulate those early chips isn’t worth it. It’s profitable to play much, much tighter than you think in the early stages. Once your career got moving, was there a moment when things really came together for you? I think it was when I came in 7th in the $25,000 buy-in WPT main event back in 2006. It was the first time I’d taken a shot on the pro circuit, and it worked out. I won a quarter-million dollars, and that pretty much launched my career. It gave me the confidence to continue playing the circuit. Then later that year I won another 400-some thousand in various events. So 2006 was really the big year for me. Can you describe the processes running in your mind when you’re at a game like that and trying to get a read on your opponents? Getting a read all boils down to two categories – are they comfortable or uncomfortable? Because, if they have a good hand and they’re an experienced player, that’s a situation where they’re going to be super-comfortable. Good players have had aces a million times, so their hands aren’t trembling at aces anymore – it’s just something that makes them feel confident. Whereas even a good player can get nervous when they’re in on a big bluff, because that’s a situation that’s less in their control. On the flip side, inexperienced players will be a lot more uncomfortable with good hands because they’re not used to getting aces, kings, queens. The adrenaline’s been released. And since beginners tend to think poker is a lot more about bluffing, they can actually look pretty comfortable holding nothing. Good players, though, know how easy it is to get caught bluffing. So, if you can put your opponent into the comfortable/uncomfortable category, and then determine whether or not they’re an experienced player, it can really help you decide whether they have a hand. Is this the kind of stuff you get into during your poker boot camps? Yeah. I break down tournament strategy into a logical formula and give people guidelines to follow. Rather than vague principles, I give them specific strategies to follow. Mostly, I try to simplify the extremely complex game of tournament poker. Some of the things they can expect to learn are how to use “M” in hand selection; I cover some advanced reading techniques; I cover some game theory and poker stuff, as well. If anyone’s interested, they can get more info at www.bigslickbootcamp.com.

Second Wave of Indictments
by Adam Marshall | May 24th, 2011 The first wave of federal indictments that took PokerStars, FullTilt, and Absolute Poker out of the U.S. market was called Black Friday. This second wave targeting sites like Doyle’s Room and TruePoker is now being called Blue Monday. The indictments came from Maryland early yesterday targeting the following sites… DoylesRoom.com TruePoker.com BookMaker.com 2Betsdi.com Funtimebingo.com GoldenArchCasino.com BetMaker.com BetGrandeSports.com Betehorse.com Beted.com Doyle Brunson formally announced his separation from Doyle’s Room earlier this month due to the current legal turmoil surrounding online poker. Obviously, a hallmark of a great player is knowing exactly when to cash in your chips. The indictments were the result of undercover work done by the Department of Homeland Security. An undercover payment processing business was created called Linwood Payment Solutions, which connected agents with executives inside those gaming operations. The covert processor made around 300,000 transactions in the meantime while tracking financial data. Of note is the fact that some of these sites operated outside the legally murky arena of online poker and in the much-more-illegal field of sports betting. Charges included money laundering and conducting an illegal gambling business but not the previous accusations of bank fraud or violations of the UIGEA. Although this attack pales in comparison to the Black Friday indictments, to some they still represent a push against poker as a whole. Others believe these to be the initial parts of the staging phase that ultimately leads to the long overdue regulation of online poker. This week, Sahamies continued to thrive and banked $350,347 in 3,592 hands spread across 32 sessions, making him the biggest winner for two weeks in a row with a combined profit of nearly $1 million. Another man who got things back on track was this year’s current leader, Jens Jeans89 Kyllnen, who won $262,118 (27 sessions/1,014 hands); likewise, both Viktor Isildur1 Blom ($201,631 in 38 sessions/6,198 hands) and EireAbu ($165,335 in 111 sessions/10,841 hands) had decent weeks, rounding out the top four winners. Isaac philivey 2694 Haxton was the weeks biggest loser after dropping $500,000 to Blom in the $1 Million SuperStar Showdown, and RaiseOnce, rumored to be Phil Ivey, was next on the loser’s list after dropping $323,400 (12 sessions/950 hands). Graham Takes__An__Hit on Thursday On Thursday, March 29, Australian pro Jarred Try__An__Hit Graham took a beating, dropping $262,000 in approximately 2,150 hands. That made him far and away the days biggest loser, which included losing the days biggest pot. It happened at a heads-up $200/$400 pot-limit Omaha table against Ilari Ilari FIN Sahamies ($117,626) when Graham ($139,725.01) opened for $800 on the button and Sahamies three-bet to $2,560. Graham made the call and then called a bet of $5,278 from Sahamies on the flop. When the turned, Sahamies led out for $15,834, Graham raised to $63,336 and Sahamies moved all in for $109,788 total. Graham made the call and suddenly there was a $235,250 pot on the line! Showdown Graham held top pair with both straight and flush draws but still needed to improve against Sahamies’ top two pair. Unfortunately for Graham, the blanked on the river and he watched his opponent rake in the monster pot. Sahamies and Graham battled for just 90 hands, and at the end of the day, Sahamies profited $80,000. The rest of Grahams losses had come earlier in the day when he played $100/$200 PLO against Ben Sauce123 Sulsky and Ben Ben86 Tollerene, with the former winning $136,000 on the day and the later dropping $88,000, becoming the biggest winner and second biggest loser respectively. In one notable hand, action was three-handed when Sulsky ($92,025.67) opened for $400 on the button, Tollerene ($91,613.11) three-bet to $1,400 from the small blind, and Graham ($18,044) folded the big. With action back on Sulsky, he four-bet to $4,800, Tollerene five-bet to $13,400, Sulsky six-bet to $45,200, and Tollerene called, leading to the flop. Tollerene immediately moved all in for over $46,000 and Sulsky called off for about the same. Showdown Suslky was ahead with pocket aces but needed to dodge Tollerene’s straight draw. Dodge he did when the appeared on the turn followed by the river. Sulsky raked in the $183,421 pot. In another hand, action was heads-up between Graham ($102,960) and Sulsky ($62,038) when the former opened for $600. Sulsky responded with a reraise to $1,880, Graham four-bet to $5,720, Sulsky five-bet to $17,240, Graham called, and the flop came out . From there, Sulsky led out for $34,558, Graham min-raised to $69,116, and Sulsky called off his remaining $34,558. Showdown Graham had flopped sevens and fives with a flush draw, but was behind the aces and fives of Sulsky. Neither the turn nor river changed a thing, and Graham watched the $124,074 pot pushed to Sulsky. Kyllnen Wins $258,000 in 542 Hands on Monday The new week proved kind to Jens Jeans89 Kyllnen, who won $258,000 in just 542 hands no doubt a relief after having dropped $600,000 in March. Kyllnen also won the day’s largest pot, which turned out to be quite the doozy. It happened at a five-handed $100/$200 PLO table when Viktor Isildur1 Blom ($116,506.69) opened for $900 under the gun and Kyllnen ($119,038.65) three-bet to $3,200 from the button. Ilari Ilari FIN Sahamies ($47,200) called from the small blind, and Ronny 1-ronnyr3 Kaiser ($17,222.50) exercised his option in the big with a four-bet to $13,900. At that point, Blom called, Kyllnen five-bet to $62,000, and Sahamies called off. Kaiser called off, as well, and Blom came along for the ride. The flop came out and Blom and Kyllnen got the rest of the money in, creating a pot worth $297,471. Showdown Kaiser Sahamies Blom Kyllnen Both Sahamies and Blom had flopped flushes, while Kaiser and Kyllnen each held two pair. The turn wasnt that exciting, but the river was, because it paired the board and gave Kyllnen a full house, which was good enough to scoop the massive pot. Kyllnen was the days biggest winner; meanwhile, Ilari Ilari FIN Sahamies ended up the second-biggest loser after dropping $213,000 in 538 hands, behind only Isaac philivey2694 Haxton, who dropped $218,000 in his loss to Blom in the $1 Million SuperStar Showdown. Kaiser and Blom Hit Hard on Tuesday The $100/$200 PLO games were going strong on Tuesday, and though there were no six-figure winners, there were a couple of big losers in Ronny 1-ronnyr3 Kaiser and Viktor Isildur1 Blom who lost $181,000 and $156,000 respectively. In the biggest pot of the day, action was four-handed when Ilari Ilari FIN Sahamies ($106,565) opened for $860 under the gun and Kaiser ($87,539.25) three-bet to $2,940 from the small blind after the button had folded. After the big blind got out of the way, Sahamies made the call and then turned around and called Kaisers bet of $5,400 on the flop. When the peeled off on the turn, Kaiser check-called a bet of $17,035, and proceeded to check-call a bet of $51,105 on the river. Kaiser mucked after Sahamies revealed for sixes full, which was good for the $153,160 pot. Sahamies went on to win $72,000 on the day, making him the third biggest winner behind Ben Sauce123 Sulsky (+$96,000) and Ben Ben86 Tollerene (+$92,000). In another hand, Sulsky ($118,482.86) opened for $400 and was met with a three-bet to $1,280 by Blom ($53,134). Sulsky opted for a four-bet to $3,920, Blom called, and the flop came down . From there, Blom checked, Sulsky bet $5,111, and Blom check-raised to $23,251. Not to be outdone, Sulsky three-bet and Blom called off his remaining $25,963. Showdown Blom had flopped top pair with the nut-flush draw but needed to improve against Sulskys flopped set of queens. The turn was a blank for Blom, as was the river. Sulsky’s improving to queens full of sixes was good enough to win the $106,228 pot.

Titans Again Dominate $200,000 Guaranteed
Posted by Steven, March 5, 2012 Last week, Titan Pokers players captured the top three places in the $200,000 Guaranteed. Last night, Titan Poker players continued their domination of the event, taking the top two spots. A total of 1,166 players started the Sunday night tournament, the biggest guaranteed prize tournament on Titan Pokers weekly schedule. The large starting field drove up the prize pool to $233,200 and the action lasted 11 hours. Four Titan Poker players finished in the top ten. Czech player azaque47 was eliminated in tenth place for a $2005.52 payout and Swedish player stentaxxiAA finished in eighth place for a $4,547.40 prize. Going into heads-up play, Canadian player DosPerros was slightly ahead of Spanish player KLAUSS88 in chips. But four hands later, the Canadian pushed pre-flop with pocket fives and KLAUSS88 was glad to respond by going all-in with his pocket tens. A ten on the flop, accompanied by an ace, and another ace on the turn, completed the full house for the Spanish player and he took the lead in the one-on-one battle. On the final hand of the tournament, KLAUSS88 was ahead by a 9-1 factor, but his A 6 was slightly behind the A T of the DosPerros. However, the A J 6 on the flop gave him the two pairs to knock out the Canadian from the tournament. For his first place finish, KLAUSS88 received $39,644. Second place was worth $29,150 for DosPerros.
